Kūlia’s Results: Exceptional Growth Continues

Kūlia Academy students demonstrated exceptional academic growth during the 2025–26 school year.

Reading:

  • 264% progress toward Annual Typical Growth
  • That is approximately 2.64× the typical annual growth expected for students at their grade and baseline placement levels.

Math:

  • 248% progress toward Annual Typical Growth
  • That is approximately 2.48× the typical annual growth expected for students at their grade and baseline placement levels.

These results show that Kūlia Academy students are progressing at approximately 2.5 times the typical annual rate of growth in both Reading and Math.

2026 MATHCOUNTS: Extraordinary Success in Our First Year

 
Kūlia Academy’s Math Team earned second place at the 2026 MATHCOUNTS State Competition, marking the school’s first-ever participation in the program. Competing as a team of 6th and 7th graders, Kūlia faced predominantly 8th-grade teams from across Hawaiʻi and secured an impressive second-place finish in its inaugural year.

The state competition took place on March 7, 2026, with the following final team rankings:

1st Place: Washington Middle School
2nd Place: Kūlia Academy
3rd Place: Iolani School
4th Place: Kaimuki Christian School
5th Place: Punahou School
6th Place: Seabury Hall

2024-25 STATE TEST RESULTS

We’re thankful and thrilled to share that Kūlia Academy students earned the highest proficiency scores among all Hawaii middle and high schools—75% in Math and 80% in ELA—on the 2024–25 Strive HI state tests.

Kulia’s Results: Exceptional Growth in One Year

Kūlia Academy’s students achieved:

Reading:

  • 258% progress toward annual growth goals

  • That’s an average of 2.58 grade levels of growth in just one school year

Math:

  • 235% progress toward annual growth goals

  • The equivalent of 2.35 grade levels gained in one year

These results aren’t ordinary — they’re exceptional, and they show that Kūlia Academy is accelerating learning far beyond expectations.
