How Students Opt into These Programs

Our programs are tailored to meet students’ academic strengths and personal interests, and students can opt into specific pathways based on their goals. The process for opting into these pathways is as follows:

  1. Initial Assessment and Placement
In the spring semester, all prospective and current students in grades 5 and up are eligible to take an assessment that evaluates their knowledge and readiness for advanced coursework. This assessment helps determine the appropriate level for each student in math, science, coding, and language arts.
  2. Personalized Pathway Recommendations
Based on assessment results, academic performance, and teacher recommendations, students receive personalized pathway recommendations that outline the courses most suited to their strengths and future goals. Our administrators work closely with students and parents to select a combination of pathways in areas such as AI, data science, math, science, ELA, or social studies, tailoring each student’s learning plan to maximize their academic growth.
  3. Pathway Selection and Enrollment Meeting
During the enrollment period, students and families meet with their assigned academic advisor to discuss pathway options. Together, they review the student’s interests and aspirations to ensure alignment with their chosen pathway(s). Each pathway is flexible, allowing students to choose accelerated tracks in multiple areas or focus intensively on one area, such as STEM or humanities.
  4. Ongoing Support and Pathway Adjustments
Students’ progress is closely monitored through quarterly reviews, during which advisors assess performance and provide feedback. Students who show exceptional progress can further accelerate their coursework, while those who need additional support have access to tutoring and mentoring. Pathway adjustments can be made at the end of each school year, allowing students the flexibility to adapt their learning plan as their interests and goals evolve.
  5. Exploration for Incoming 6th-Grade Students
Incoming 6th graders participate in an introductory program that allows them to explore basic concepts in AI, coding, and data science, along with accelerated math and science topics. After the introductory year, students can officially select their pathways based on their interests and performance, transitioning into focused, accelerated coursework by 7th grade.
