GAME PROGRAMMING

Design your own games!
Kūlia students make their own games using a language called Lua.
How is it done? well.. see the video below!
Why are we learning a language called Lua?
Lua is a powerful and versatile programming language that has multiple uses.
Lua is used in many popular games, including World of Warcraft, Angry Birds, and Roblox. Other uses of the Lua programming language include scripting custom applications, for example it’s used in network systems including CISCO and Nmap. Lua script has also been used to develop programs such as Adobe Lightroom and the MySQL Workbench.
What else is Lua used for?
Web development: Lua can be used to build web applications and developer tools, as well as being embedded in web servers, making it a popular choice for building high-performance web applications. Lua has also been used in content management systems and e-commerce platforms.
Data analysis: Lua is used in data analysis, particularly in the field of machine learning. It can be used to build models and algorithms for data analysis and prediction.
Software: We know that Lua code is used for games in the software industry, but it is also used in other areas of software development. For example, the mobile payment app Venmo uses Lua to write server-side code.
Academic research: Lua has also been used to develop prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations of new algorithms and systems. One example is the development of domain-specific languages (DSLs).
